My New Hair Journey!


So for a couple of months I had been considering locking my hair. I went half crazy looking at youtube videos, blogs and even dreadlocking forums. I really wanted to sisterlock my hair but I found out that doing so would be very expensive and timely. So people were charging 600 just to start with 3-4 inches of hair. I have like 9-10 inches of hair. Also the upkeep would take hours and some of the locticians would charge 20  dollars per hour. humppp I wasn't into paying that. So I researched it more and decided against palm rolling as a start since it is hard to keep it twisted when I wash it. I chose to interlock my hair which is similar to sisterlocking. The point is to use a tool to lock the hair. There are many videos on youtube that explain this. Here are the reasons I chose this route: 
  • I can wash my hair or go swimming immediately after my hair is interlocked. 
  • I want my locks to be skinny.
  • I want to curl my locks and do all kinds of styles
I did go a different route by starting them from two strand twists and once each loc forms I will get them interlocked from the root. Until I get back to my loctician I will palm roll my roots. So far I'm loving it. I chose to lock my hair because I HATE combing my hair! I also want to a style that is very fast. I don't enjoy spending lots of time on my hair daily. I also want to attain lots of length.

Just thought I would post something for the last day of the year...I also have another resolution for the new year, and that is to take better care of my skin!  I found this recipe for a homemade mask and toner for acne and it really has worked. I've used it every other day this week and my skin is smooth and the acne on my cheeks is gone. This is the video: This is definitely going on the list of my routine plus it isn't hard to make and it's natural :) Now all I need to do for the rest of the day is figure out how I will spend the last day of the year. Life is an ongoing battle..

I've had many revelations lately, and I have have come to the conclusion that I'm going to have two choices to make everyday..either I take each thing step by step or don't do it at all. I feel the only way for me to have some sanity is to take everything one step at a time. My mom tells me this almost every week..but it has never stuck me like this. Like for me to get serious and to stay on top of things I'm going to have to stop rushing to the next step without completing the last. I have to get real with myself. The only way for me to move forward is to get real with myself. The other revelation that I had this month is to always remember that I'm not alone and that I can't go through life alone. I told one of my good friends that same thing this week. She was having some health and relationship issues, and I told her that she doesn't have to go through any of it alone and that she isn't supposed to. God didn't put us on earth to be alone. That ...

The Student's Block

I'm having a form of writer's block but it is where I cant study. I try to pick up and study for my DAT (Dental Admissions Test) but I can't. All I want to do is watch Weeds on Netflix..tisk..tisk.. AND yes I am not going to be taking taking medical school school route as once planned. I had an intervention one day while studying for the MCAT. I promise I was right in the middle of studying for the physics section and something was like, "what are you doing?" So I had a long talk with myself and God and also a lot of times before I even had my intervention. I keep thinking is this what I want to do. Do I really want to be a physician or is there something else. So I did my research, and discovered that being a dentist fits me more. I want to have a predictable type schedule where I go to work for 4 days out of the week and I set when I want to come in. I wanted to have my own practice as well.
